notes This pictures shows two females of this species, and the great amount of color pattern variation that existed in this population. Unfortunately, in the 1980s this population became extinct. This occurred during the same time that the toad Bufo pareglenes and many other frog species in this area also disappeared. The current hypothesis is that these frogs were killed off by a non-native fungus that invaded the area, and which is implicated in the die-off and extinctions of frog species in many parts of the world.
