notes This juvenile Chuckawalla was found at mid-morning in a talus near the bottom of a steep rocky canyonette/chute. It was fairly tame, only paying cursory attention to my presence while wandering about on the rocks, occasionally climbing up onto Perityle emoryi plants and chomping on their flowers and foliage. There was some controversy about synonimizing the old name Sauromalus obeselus with the species S. ater, see this link for details. photo category: Animal - Reptile
