notes Flower and partial view of involucres of Senecio californicus. Note single series of long, linear, phyllaries...without black tips (at least on this particular plant). I think the insect is a bee fly (Bombyliidae)... perhaps in the genus Apolysis? photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
