location
McConkie Ranch. Dry Fork Canyon. Near Vernal (Uintah County, Utah, US)notes Detail from the panel of petroglyphs known as the 'Three Kings,' carved and painted onto the Navajo Sandstone by Native Americans of the Fremont Culture. Fremont peoples were thought to inhabit this area from about 1 to 1200 A.D. This panel of life-sized figures contains perhaps the finest examples of the Classic Vernal style of Fremont art. It has been spared some of the damage inflicted on many other petroglyphs because it is located on the face of cliff at a point that is now about 50 feet above ground level.keywords: anthropology, petroglyph, pictograph, Native American, Fremont Culture, anthropomorph, anthromorph
