notes A closer view of the habit, as seen from above, of Nemacladus tenuis var. tenuis. Below are some remarks on key characters of this taxon. These refer to the excellent new key for the genus here. 1) Note the dull, grayish color of the main stem (between the basal rosette and the upper branches, which become reddish). From the key (couplet 5/5'), this is a common character of N. rubescens and N. tenuis, which can be seen in these two CalPhotos images: N. rubescens, and N. tenuis var. aliformis 2) The basal leaves here are pinnately toothed, as compared to the entire rosette leaves of N. rubescens, as mentioned in couplet 6/6' of the key. photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
