Bryce Canyon National Park: The Hat Shop along Under the Rim Trail (Garfield County, Utah, US)notes A double pinnacle in the Hat Shop, where boulders rest upon pillars of softer material. They were formed after soil and rock, eroded from higher elevations, underwent secondary erosion, but with the hard boulders keeping the softer material beneath from washing away. This is very similar to how the famous 'hoodoo' pinnacles at Bryce Canyon formed, except that the latter consist of ancient sedimentary rock. The Hat Shop pillars are more recent deposits.
