notes Near-record spring and summer moisture in the Colorado Front Range produced unusually dense early vegetation, which fueled a boom in the aphid population. The abundance of aphids, in turn, led to a boom in Lady Beetles. Some areas were so heavily infested with Beetles in a mating frenzy that rocks, bushes and trees looked like they had been painted redcamera Canon 40D, 180 mm macro, f/13, 1/160 sec.
