  • notes   These holes were worn into the rock by Native Americans who used this site for grinding grain. The area was occupied by the Washoe Tribe of California and Nevada through the middle of the 19th century. This mortar holes, which could be as much as 2000 years old, were presumably created by the ancestors of the Washoe. (additional keywords: archeology.)
