notes Habit of Porophyllum gracile in the east Mojave. This is fairly typical of size and branching behavior for the P. gracile that I've seen in the Mojave Desert; although color-wise the stems of this individual are on the greenish side of a spectrum which can vary from greenish-blue through glaucous greys to a glaucous purplish. Note how different the gestalt of this plant is compared to images I posted here on CalPhotos of 'Porophyllum pinifolium' growing near the southern tip of Baja California. While the Baja taxon keyed to P. pinifolium in the ''Flora of Baja California'' (Ira Wiggins, 1980), the more recent ''Plants of the Cape region'' (Lee Lenz, 1992) lists P. pinifolium as synonomous with P. gracile.photo category: Plant - shrub
