INFORMATION PROVIDED WITH THE PHOTO
  • date of photo  May 2009
  • this photo depicts an animal that was captive or collected
  • photo location   My marine aquarium
  • animal's place of origin   not provided
  • notes   The Bluefin Damsel is found in the Indian & Pacific Oceans and Great Barrier reef, extending to eastern Africa and also parts of the Red sea. In general, most damselfish are hardy and safe in reef aquaria, however the Bluefin Damsel is not reef safe. They will pick at the polyps of soft corals and can wipe out colonies of smaller polyps. They are generally safe with stony corals. They will swim actively at all levels of the aquarium. It is fairly aggressive (much more so as an adult than when young).
