notes Detail of flower of a small plant of M. reflexa. The lower leaves seen here are long and thin (oblong-elliptic). On larger plants, the upper leaves are deltate-ovate. It's often difficult to ID Mentzelias to species, but I believe this is the only California species in the genus with 8 petals.camera Shot on a Canon Digital Rebel XT at f10, 1/50 sec, ISO 100 using a Canon 50mm compact macro lens.
