notes View into the tangled interior of a P. schottii shrub, showing deep-blue flowers and gland-dotted fruits. The persistent, long, soft, linear leaves of P. schotti are distinctive in the genus. While Psorothamnus spinosus (Smoke Tree) also has linear leaves, they are not persistent, but are early deciduous and infrequently seen. Also, Smoke Tree is typically tree-like, has inflorescence branches ending in a well-developed spine, and blooms later (typically June-July) than Ps. schottii (typically March to May).camera Shot on a Canon D60 at f8, 1/400, ISO 100 using a Canon 50mm Compact macro lens.
