  • notes   View of the Sierra Nevada Crest and Escarpment near Mono Lake looking to the west southwest. The Eastern Sierra is bounded by a system of frontal faults. The vertical displacement that created this escarpment was probably about 3,000 meters. Displacement in this area occurred primarily along the Silver Lake Fault. The trace lies at the base of the escarpment. From the left: Mt. Wood (elev. 12,637 ft.), Parker Peak (12,861 ft.), Koip Peak (12,979 ft.), Mt. Lewis (12,296 ft.), Mt. Gibbs (12,764 ft.), Mt. Dana (13,053 ft.).
