notes When I first laid eyes on this particular shrub, with its finely whitish-wooly leaves & stems and discoid flower heads, I immediately thought of the new (for me) species I had seen about 20 miles away on the previous day: Brickellia incana. But the flowers of this specimen 'looked' different. I've posted photos of both plants here at CalPhotos. They both keyed unambiguously to Brickellia incana and I think the different 'look' between the two is just another instance of the variation that so often exists among individuals in a species.camera Shot on a Canon Digital Rebel XT at f11, 1/400 , ISO 100, using a Canon 50mm Compact macro lens.
