INFORMATION PROVIDED WITH THE PHOTO
  • date of photo  May 15, 2007
  • location   Belfair, WA (Washington, US)
  • family Liliaceae
  • notes   Giant fawn lily is abundant in the Puget Trough of Washington, western Canada and south into California. It inhabits a variety of terrain and plant communities. Locally, it enjoys lodge pole pine, Douglas fir, and Gary oak dry sites, and riparian places with red osier dogwood. A very amenable lily for the garden, but keep them potted underground since voles readily eat the corms. I have lost hundreds to the subterranean beasts.
