| Reviewer's comments: | | | "Since pines are not deciduous and the photographer labelled this as a "tamarack", and since it looks like a species of larch (of which tamarack is one), it is undoubtedly in the genus Larix, not the genus Pinus as listed. Flora of North America (1993) matches the common name "tamarack" with L. laricina. This same work, however, does not show this species as occuring in Washington. Apparently the photographer was either mistaken about her use of the name "tamarack" or about the location as "Washington." " |
