INFORMATION PROVIDED WITH THE PHOTO
  • date of photo  Aug 4, 2007
  • notes   Cerebral cortex of a rat showing pyramidal cells, Golgi-cox stain. Taken at 10x. This is IB 131L slide #67. A Golgi-cox stain stains only about 1-10% of the neurons in a slide---the actual number of pyramidal neurons in the cerebral cortex is much, much higher than apparent in this image. Unlike Nissl stain, axons and dendrites are stained using the Golgi-cox method.
  • camera   Nikon D70s, original resolution: 300dpi, 3008x2000pxls at 10x magnification
  • photo category: Misc. - histology
