Binghamton, NY (Broome County, NY, New York, US)habitat Road edge, up hill from a beaver marshnotes The snapping turtle is digging the nest chamber with her back legs. She would alternately place one back leg into the hole, exacavate some dirt, and then place the next leg into the hole. The entire process took about 4 hours. I have a full sequence of the female constructing the nest, laying the eggs, covering them over, and then leaving.camera Canon EOS 20D, 100mm Macro lens, flash
