notes This is a distinctive Astragalus species. It's very tall and erect; has thick, red, striate stems; long dense inflorescences on long peduncles; large, long leaves with many crowded leaflets; and it grows in or near coastal salt marshes. These characters make it pretty easy to ID (for an Astragalus :-)camera Shot on a Canon Digital Rebel XT at f6.3, 1/500 sec., ISO100, with a Quantaray 24mm macro lens.
