notes Inflorescences of the (sub)shrub Polygala cornuta var. fishiae. On the horizontal stem there are flower buds to the right, and open flowers to the left. In the open flowers, the two prominent 'wings' are actually sepals rather than petals (as is the short round basal nub between them). If you look at the first bud on the right, you can see the sepals enclosing the emerging corolla (as well as one of two lateral sepals not visible on the flowers). On the vertical stem a round, flattened green fruit is visible above, as well as another fruit beginning to emerge from a corolla below.camera Shot on a Canon D60 at f6.3, 1/60, ISO 100 with a Canon 50mm Compact macro lens.
