location
O'Neill Regional Park, Water tank Road (Orange County, California, US)family
Boraginaceae
plant community Coastal Sage Scrubnotes While teaching my daughter the names of some flowers I called this one a 'quiet caterpillar' because of its soft appearance. The name has stuck. It doesn't bloom EVERY year - only after 'good, rainy' winters. The remains of blooms from years past can still be seen and they truely look like caterpillars.camera Canon PowerShot S200
