plant community Growing in chaparral intermingled with patchy stands of Pinus attenuata on nutrient poor sandy substrate.notes Arctostphylos nummularia is the 'bright green' leaved shrub at lower left and center of image. A. tomentosa is the 'duller whitish green leaved' shrub at the left edge (middle) and bottom edge (center). A. tomentosa was not in flower yet. Knobcone Pine trunks are visible along the top edge of the image. Update 1/2013: The Bonny Doon plants previously treated as A. nummalaria var. sensitiva have been promoted to species level as A. sensitiva in the current JM2 treatment. camera Shot at f22, 1/4 second on a Canon D60 with a Quantaray 24mm lens on a Gitzo 2220 tripod.
