| Reviewer's comments: | | | | "This is an important picture. All other photos from this location show plants that lack the paired red marks at base of each lobe, and were mistaken for L. rosaceus. This photo bridges the gap between those aberrant unspotted plants and the "normal" (spotted) forms farther south in Sta Cruz Mtn-Mont.Bay area. I am convinced that all of these spotted populations (which can be yellow to white to pink depending on location) actually belong to L. croceus s. lat. and NOT L."parviflorus" , whjich differs in habitat as well as morphology and no doubt in DNA signature as well.

| Reviewer's comments: | | | | "this is the deepest-pink form of the species, distinguishable from L. parv. s. str. by longer thicker tube, more tapered throat, grassland habitat, and (usually) paired red marks at base of each lobe. This colony was across the road from the Bull Pt. trailhead where an often-photographed colony of the UNmarked form is located. That colony has long been mistaken for L. rosaceus (q.v.) which differs from this in its non-glandular calyces." |
