| Reviewer's comments: | | | "Coloration of the newt is indicative of the Red-bellied Newt (Taricha rivularis). The eyes also protude past the jaw line. Van Damme State Park is within the range of the newt as well." |

| Reviewer's comments: | | | "Reviewed original notes. The photographer appears to have over enhanced the colors to the point the dorsum appears black and the venter a deep reddish orange. I agree with the original diagnosis, but recommend the photo be taken down due to apparent color enhancement." |
