notes Growing in a wet area along a tributary brook to Butano Creek. Note that the inflorescence spikes are all androgynous (= staminate flowers distally & pistillate flowers proximally); with the terminal spike almost entirely staminate; the next two spikes below being mostly pistillate, and the lowermost (''proximal'') spike being almost entirely pistillate. The proximal spike is also pendant; and subtended by a bract much exceeding it in length (these are all key characters for C. barbarae).
