  • notes   Habitus of a Microseris douglasii plant with two flowering stems...and with the green, bulging, fusiform stem gall of the cynipid wasp Antistrophus microseris visible just below the fruiting head on the right, with its conspicuous star-like pappus scales.

    The location here is within a few miles of Stanford University, the type locality from which A. microseris was collected and originally described (as Aylax microseris) in McCracken & Egbert(1922). For more info see the remarks under the 1st image of this series.
