notes Inflorescence shot. Growing in shaded understory of Coast Live Oak canopy, a bit less than mid-way up northeast side of Black Mountain. If I keyed this correctly, I believe this is the coastal inland form of Piperia michaelii...with (typically) denser inflorescence, thicker stem, and wider lower corolla lip corolla than the alternate candidate...P. elongata. I think the corollas of P. michaelii are also slightly 'shorter top-to-bottom' and stouter looking than those of P. elongata. Note: Thanks to Randy Morgan for correcting my initial statement above, noting this is an inland, rather than coastal form of P. michaelii...see his comment below the 1st image of this series. photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
