location
Adriatic Sea, island Cres, village Miholašćica, Kvarner bay (Rijeka region, Croatia)notes Slo.: drobnocvetna rosnica - syn.: Fumaria leucantha Viv., Fumaria glauca Jord. in Mém. Fumaria caespitosa Loscos, Fumaria parviflora subsp. microsepala Cadevall in Mem. Fumaria minima Pugsley. - Habitat: road side; ruderal, open, dry, sunny, calcareous, skeletal ground; elevation 15 m (49 feet); average precipitations ~ 1.000 mm/year, average temperature 13-15 deg C, Sub-Mediterranean phytogeographical region. - Substratum: soil among stones and rocks. - Comment (pertains to Flickr album Fumaria parviflora): Fumaria parviflora is one of several taxa of this genus growing in Croatia. Although, the genus is easy recognized by the very special shape of flowers of its members, it is not always easy to separate them to species level or lower. The flowers of all of them are similar and variable in shape and color. So, observation of size and shape of fruits is almost indispensable for truly reliable determinations. However, Fumaria parviflora is one of the easiest species in this respect. It has almost always white flowers (apart of their tips). They are much smaller compared to other taxa. The corolla is only from 4 to 6 mm long and sepals (calyx) on both sides of corolla tube are narrow (much narrower than the corolla) and usually less than one or only a fraction of mm wide. Bracts are about as long as petioles of the fruits or sometimes even longer. These traits usually suffice to be reasonably sure that the determination is correct. - Ref.: (1) T.
