notes December 26, 2021, catastrophic snowstorm hit Sierra Foothills at low elevations resulting in massive tree downfall, power lines down, tops of T-sections of the poles literally sitting in the middle of the streets, hundreds of transformers blew up. Considered one of the worst winter storms to hit foothills in history. Not the first heavy snow but the first time this level of damage and high treefall. Thought is trees were weakened by drought.keywords: winter storm, root systems
