Zapato Chino Canyon. 10.5 airline miles S-SE of Coalinga, 10 airline miles west of Avenal. (Fresno County, California, US)notes Diatomaceous marine shale. Monterey Shale Formation. Local endemic to the Monterey Shale of southwestern Fresno County. Very under-surveyed species since most of its habitat is on private ranch lands. Survey needed of the Monterey Shale from Charley Mtn to Smith Mtn to Frames Peak to Reason Mtn and also the white strip of shale (includes Zapato Chino) from Busane Peak to Flattop.photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
