location
Cantua Creek (Fresno County, California, US)notes Quercus douglasii at Cantua Creek, on the western edge of the San Joaquin Desert climate and floristic region. These blue oaks are on the climatic trailing edge of the range of the species. Quercus x alvordiana occurs a few miles to the east on the Moreno shale, but no oaks occur farther to the east of that due to the arid climate (< 10.5 inches average annual precipitation). This site was included in research conducted by Prahlada Papper (Ackerly Lab, UC Berkeley).photo category: Landscape - habitat
