Lower Trenta valley, between villages Soča and Trenta, right bank of river Soča; above Strgulc abandoned farm house, Soča 47, East Julian Alps (Posočje, Slovenia)notes Slo.: hojeva polževka - syn: Limacium pudorinum (Fr.) Wünsche, Hygrophorus abieticola Krieglst. ex Gröger & Bresinsky: 211 (2008) - Habitat: mixed wood, Picea abies and Ostrya carpinifolia dominant trees; both trees near the fruit bodies; slightly inclined mountain slope, south aspect; dry and relatively warm place; calcareous, colluvial, skeletal ground; in shade; partly protected from direct rain by tree canopies; average precipitations ~ 3.000 mm/year, average temperature 7-9 deg C, elevation 650 m (2.100 feet), alpine phytogeographical region. - Substratum: forest soil, growing virtually attached to thin underground, live roots (probably of Picea abies). - Comments: About 10 pilei growing on an area of about 6 x 6 m. All examined fruit bodies were virtually attached to thin (4-8 mm in diameter) still living roots. Pilei 4.2 – 7 cm in diameter, conspicuously sticky; gills firmly attached to the hut; stipe 4 – 7 cm long and 9-16 mm in diameter, dry, fibrous, with small, whitish floccules, hollow (except the youngest fruit bodies); smell almost none, slightly on soil or rotten leaves; taste not strong but interesting, on Picea abies needles syrup or some kind of chemistry; SP abundant, whitish, oac893. - Spores smooth, many with a single large oil drop. Dimensions: (6.8) 7.5 - 8.8 (9.3) × (3.9) 4.3 - 4.9 (5.2) µm; Q = (1.5) 1.6 - 1.9 (2); N = 35; Me = 8 × 4.6 µm; Qe = 1.7. - Asci dimensions: (35.3) 44.6 - 49.6 (50.2) × (4.8) 5 - 6.8 µm; Q = (6.1) 7.2 - 8.9 (9.4); N = 7; Me = 45.7 × 5.7 µm; Qe = 8.1. Hypha with clamps. Olympus CH20, NEA 100x/1.25, magnification 1.000 x, oil (spore, asci, hymenium); NEA 40x/0.65, magnification 400x (pileipellis), in water; fresh material.
