Sequoia National Forest, along Highway 180 between Grant Grove and Boyden Cave (Fresno County, California, US)notes Eriogonum saxatile S. Watson NATIVE Habit: Perennial mat (1)2--4 dm, 0.5--2 dm diam. Stem: generally 0.5--1.5 dm, tomentose or hairy. Leaf: basal or sheathing; blades (0.3)1--2(2.5) cm, +- round, tomentose. Inflorescence: 10--25 cm, 5--12 cm wide; branches tomentose or hairy; peduncles 0; involucres 3--4 mm, 2--3 mm wide, tomentose to hairy; teeth 5--6. Flower: (3)5--7 mm, including +- winged stipe, glabrous; perianth white to rose or +- yellow, outer lobes 3--5 mm, 1.5--2 mm wide, oblanceolate to lanceolate, inner 4--6 mm, 2--3 mm wide, obovate. Fruit: 3.5--4 mm, glabrous. Chromosomes: n=20. Ecology: Common.
