Ásmundarstakkur, sea stack west of Sandvik, Suduroy (Faroe Islands)notes There are many 'sea stacks' in the Faroes, products of unique degradation of the basalt that makes up the entire archipelago. Ásmundarstakkur, an impressive formation northwest of Sandvik on the southernmost Faroe Island of Suduroy, is reputed to be the largest of the Faroe Island sea stacks. Black legged kittiwakes nest on the stack in in the surrounding cliffs, and Atlantic puffins may be seen there as well.photo category: Misc. - geology
