location
Pilot Rock (Jackson County, Oregon, US)family
Saxifragaceae
notes Detail of flowers and fruits, with open capsules filled with small, ovoid, dark-brown, shiny seeds. Growing in forest understory, within a mile west of Pilot Rock, not far from I-5 and the California border. Keyed to Mitella trifida in the Flora of North America, and in Jepson's ''A Flora of California''. Agrees well with the page for that species on the Oregon Flora Project website. William J. Hooker's 1829 flora has a nice line drawing of the species. The current Jepson treatment separates out their previous circumscription of Mitella into three segregate genera: see the key to Saxifragaceae. This plant goes unambiguously to genus Ozomelis, and thence to O. trifida (= Mitella trifida). photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
