Mt. Mangart's flats, rocky scarp of Mt. Mangart alpine road, East Julian Alps (Posočje, Slovenia)notes Slo.: nasprotnolistni kamnokreč - Habitat: in rock crevices, south oriented almost verticalroad scarp; open, sunny place, calcareous rock with some siliceous component, exposed to direct rain, average precipitations ~ 3.000 mm/year, average temperature 1-2 deg C, elevation 1.860 m (6.100 feet), alpine phytogeographical region. - Substratum: soil in rock crevices. - Comment: Saxifraga oppositifolia at its lowest elevations on south oriented rock faces blooms already in May while its peak blooming time at 2.500 m and higher elevations can be August.
