location
Just below summit of Mt. Diablo (Contra Costa County, California, US)notes Inflorescences of a very robust (stems > 20cm) post-burn individual of Phacelia phacelioides growing in the partial shade/shelter of an oak (probably Quercus wislizeni var. frutescens...though I didn't ID the species). Notice the rather decumbent to ascending habit of this Phaclia; the large, (mostly) entire leaves; and the dense, hairy, inflorescence with long, narrow, calyx lobes and small corollas. This annual was growing during the spring following the ''Morgan Fire'' of September 9, 2013. photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
