Boraginaceae
notes Habit of Phacelia pachyphylla, growing in a strange substrate (fault gouge with clays, high-iron content rock, limestone, and other rock types nearby). This keyed to P. pachyphylla (petioles > leaf blades; stalked dark glands; fruit elongate-ovoid). An annual, this plant is far along in its development...a bit late here to get an image of showier foliage and flower...but the plump fruits and densely dark-glandularity are interesting. I guess this is what the plants look like in a tough year...winter/spring of 2014 was mostly quite dry and with some unfavorably timed periods of high and low temps.photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
