notes Specimen is showing signs of sea star wasting syndrome. The mysterious disease appeared in summer 2013 in British Columbia and quickly spread to the West Coast of United States. Populations of several species of sea stars have suffered extremely heavy mortality. As the desease progresses, arms of the sea star wither away or become detached.camera Canon EOS 7D, 50mm, f/7.1, 1/1000 sec.
