plant community Arctic tundranotes Range: Circumpolar. Occurs in the arctic–alpine zones on tundra hummocks, seepage slopes, and other moist alpine sites. ID: Height 2–8 in (5–20 cm). Leaves: In a dense basal tuft, lanceolate, fleshy, to 0.75 in (2 cm) long, with a prominent midrib and long, stiff hairs on the margin. Many erect, leafless stems. Flowers: Yellow, 4-parted, in a corymb-like raceme of 4–10 blossoms; petals shallowly lobed; calyx green to purple, hairy. Fruit: Ovoid, flattened, purple or green seed pods, to 0.5 in (1 cm) long.keywords: Draba
