INFORMATION PROVIDED WITH THE PHOTO
  • date of photo  May 20, 2012
  • location   One quarter mile south of Sly Park Dam, near a seasonal stream (El Dorado County, California, US)
  • family Violaceae
  • notes   From our observations, many of the populations of Viola sheltonii on the southwest side of Mormon Emigrant Road appear to be exclusively cleistogamous, like the plant in fruit shown here. However, in April 2005, a chasmogamous V. sheltonii was seen on the trail around the southeast side of Jenkinson Lake across the road.
