notes Lasthenia californica is on the left. An awn of the pappus is outlined in black (note linear shape). This was collected off Bunker Road in the Marin Headlands. Lasthenia gracilis is on the right. An awn of the papppus is outlined in black (note ovate lanceolate shape that tapers to an awn). This specimen was collected in Pinnacles N.M. Both specimens were collected by R. Steers, L. californica was photographed by Jessica Weinberg, and L. gracilis was photographed by R. Steerskeywords: Lasthenia gracilis pappus
