notes On July 8th, 2003, four young botanists set forth on safari to capture the elusive Scirpus acutus var. occidentalis at Pinnacles National Monument. Sadly, one botanist was slain in the ensuing battle with the ferocious beast, but we believe this was a reasonable sacrifice for capturing such a magnificent specimen.
