synonyms Chamaesyce melanadenia
notes Habit of Chamaesyce melanadenia. It can be difficult (at least for me) to distinguish between C. melanadenia, C. albomarginata, and C. polycarpa by 'gestalt at distance'. Vestiture (i.e. 'hairiness') is a key distinguishing character used in many floras (Jepson, Munz, Abrams). In particular, C. albomarginata is glabrous, C. polycarpa can be glabrous or have short *spreading* pubescence, and C. melanadenia has longer, *appressed*, pubescence. This plant had (longish) appressed pubescence.camera Shot on a Canon D60 at f18, 1/50, ISO 100, using a Canon 50mm Compact macro lens.
