location
Cliffs south of Hagen Canyon, in Red Rock Canyon State Park. (Kern County, California, US)family
Boraginaceae
notes Habit of a Pectocarya setosa plant. (Note last years stem skeleta in area at top right of photo.) In my experience P. setosa tends to appear more 'vegatatively dense' and robust when compared with the other Pectocarya species I've seen in California. Other species are often open and straggly stemmed with longer leafless internodes along the stems, e.g. P. recurvata, P. penicillata, P. pusilla, etc.)camera Shot on a Canon Digital Rebel XT at f6.3, 1/50 sec., ISO100, with a Canon 50mm Compact macro lens.
photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
