Boraginaceae
notes Photo shows sprawling, prostrate habit of Phacelia hydrophylloides. Though appearing as separate plants, many were connected by long pale white stems underneath the duff. Among the floras I consulted (e.g. Jepson, Munz, Botti's 'Flora of Yosemite') there is no mention of this species being rhizomatous, but that was what appeared to be the case. (This seemed unusual to me, as I am not aware of any rhizomatous Phacelia species.)camera Shot on a Canon D60 at f9, 1/60, ISO 200 with a Canon 50mm Compact macro lens.
photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
