location
Near Amboy Crater (San Bernardino County, California, US)family
Campanulaceae
plant community Sandy Desert Flatnotes One of the most intriguing aspects of Nemacladus species are the 'small stipelike appendages, each of which bears one or more terminal transparent rodlike cells', as described by Phillip Munz. In this species the 'stipelike appendages' are yellow, and the transparent rods are reflexed from the vertical by an angle of around 135 degrees. I'm very curious as to what function these 'appendages' serve.camera Shot on a Canon D60 at f8, 1/320 with a Canon 50mm compact macro lens.
