    1. Reviewed by Thomas Madsen    Aug 5, 2010

Action: changed name from "Platanthera sparsiflora" to "Platanthera yosemitensis "

    Reviewer's comments:
"The small columns and saccate/scrotiform spurs on this specimen are consistent with Platanthera yosemitensis, but not P. sparsiflora.

The lip apices on this specimen are connivent with the apices of the dorsal sepals, which is again consistent with P. yosemitensis, but not with P. sparsiflora, P. stricta or P. purpurascens.

The corollas on this specimen appear unusually green for P. yosemitensis - normally, they are distinctly yellow - but this may be an artifact of the photograph."

    Reviewer's comments:
"Interestingly, this photo bridges the gap between the first collections of Platanthera yosemitensis in 1923, and its subsequent rediscovery in 2003."
