Goiás state, Cerrado region, Brazil (Brazil)notes Annual fishes inhabit seasonally dry pools in wet areas, such as veredas (palm marshes) in the Cerrado. Simpsonichthys parallelus (Teleostei: Rivulidae) was recently described, and was discovered during our samplings for tadpoles in Cerrado herpetofaunal inventories. Most annual fishes have restricted ranges, with many endemic or undescribed forms threatened by habitat destruction throughout the Cerrado domain.photo category: Animal - Fish
