notes This is probably a Southern Whiptail, Cnemidophorus tigris, gracilis Baird and Girard, 1852. Species is all female--reproduces by parthenogenesis. Attempting to feed on Hyles lineata (Fabricius, 1775) WHITE-LINED SPHINX caterpillar, which itself feeds on Creosote Bush, Larrea tridentata, underwhich this scene played out.contributor's ID # Western Whiptail1-031101 photo category: Animal - Reptile
